I was staring at myself in the mirror the other morning while my 3, 4, & 5 year old slept. It was quiet and I have very little moments like that so I was enjoying the silent re-connection with myself. I blinked at the 31yo Asian woman in the mirror. Her long jet black hair was frizzed from putting it up so often to prevent the kids from snagging it, her deep brown eyes were tired yet begged for excitement, and her smooth bronzed tone skin and firm body were still clinging to her teen years while inside she screamed mid-life crisis.
I leaned over the sink and splashed water on my face before wetting my hair down and putting it up again. Life seemed to go by so slow for me, yet it seemed as if my children we're growing faster than I could keep up. My husband was away 3-5 months at a time for his job and being new to the NC area, I felt alone and unmotivated lately. I needed a friend, a good female friend who was outgoing, humorous, open-minded, and fun. I needed someone preferrablly with children so she understood my daily routines and could sympethize with my many mood swings. I enjoyed meeting the women online in the MMORPGs I played, like Everquest II, World of Warcraft, and Dark Age of Camelot, but I needed someone closer, to hold and kiss me when I needed to be loved; to make me laugh and purge over popcorn watching a scarey movie; or to slap my irrationality back down when I was being a biatch.
As I looked one last time at myself in the mirror, I smiled before switching the light off. I walked into my office, sat at my computer, and began to look for my new bi-female friend online ...
